Joanne Wright Chartered Psychologist
Hello, and welcome to Joanne Wright Psychology. I passionately believe that people have the capacity for change. The challenge is often that people feel stuck, demotivated, or overwhelmed—personally and at work—and hold a view that change is beyond their grasp.
I aim to work with you or your teams to move away from unhelpful strategies, repeat disappointments, and stagnation and towards opportunity, growth, and self-development. My mindset and skills are based upon over twenty years of experience in the fields of mental health and applied psychology.
I Chartered as a Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) in 2004 and now I am an Associate Fellow. I am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) – the regulatory body established to protect the public and set standards for clinical practice. As such, you can be assured that I am highly qualified in my role and I will practice ethically, appropriately and responsibly.
My primary training was in forensic psychology, which included working with male and female offenders in custody and in the community. As a Senior Manager, I provided consultancy to prison service Governors, the police, probation, and social services. My roles incorporated psychological therapy, risk assessment, staff training, crisis intervention, and policy development.
Since leaving the prison service in 2015, I have continued to make a significant investment in my personal and professional development. In addition to being a Chartered Psychologist, I am qualified in a range of therapeutic tools. These include Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Clinical Hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
